Jonathan Chern is a highly accomplished violinist with three decades of musical experience. He is currently the lead violinist of the Dallas Candlelight Concert Series, a string quartet that specializes in blending popular genres of music with classical undertones, where he has been featured on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas. Prior to that, Jonathan went on tour to Carnegie Hall as a member of the New World Symphony. In addition, Jonathan was selected to participate in Pinchas Zukerman’s Young Artists Program, where he studied chamber music under the tutelage of Shmuel Ashkenasi and Nicholas Mann. Jonathan has also had the privilege of serving as Concertmaster at National Orchestral Institute and Round Top Festival, under the baton of James Ross and Michael Stern.

Jonathan is a passionate chamber musician who has performed with Stefan Hersh and members of the Ying Quartet. Jonathan loves teaching and has taught students of all ages. Jonathan has spent summers teaching masterclasses and private lessons in a variety of programs including: Indiana University’s Summer String Academy, Manhattan in the Mountains, and the Iber Academy in Colombia.

Jonathan holds a Master of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the Jacobs School of Music, where he studied primarily with Grigory Kalinovsky and Jorja Fleezanis. Jonathan’s experience has provided him with incredible opportunities to perform with a variety of artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, John Williams, Joshua Bell, Johnny Mathis, and members of Destiny’s Child.
